Pupil Premium

What is pupil premium?

The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to help children from low income families achieve in line with their potential. Copnor Primary School will only receive this additional money to spend on children if parents/carers who are eligible apply for it.

Who is eligible?

The school is awarded the additional funding for children who meet any of the following criteria:

Are currently entitled to free school meals;
Have been entitled to free school meals within the last 6 years;
Are ‘looked after’
Are covered by a guardianship order
Are covered by a residency order
Have been adopted from care.
Whilst Children in EYFS/KS1 currently get Free School Meals it is still important that parents complete an Entitlement Application Form as this can bring in additional funding to help your child reach their full potential.
Please see the following information from the Government about pupil premium: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/pupil-premium/pupil-premium

Service Pupil Premium

Service pupil premium is additional funding for schools, but it is not based on disadvantage. It has been combined into pupil premium payments. The funding is for pastoral support for eligible pupils and is not at the same level of funding as the pupil premium.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Catch Up Premium

For the academic year 2020 to 2021, Copnor Primary School received £50,000 in additional funding from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) catch-up premium. How this grant will be spent and how the effect of this expenditure on the educational attainment of the pupils at the school will be measured, is detailed within the Pupil Premium strategy.
